Don't miss this incredible opportunity to learn about voiceovers from top industry professionals!
All the proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association.
I have received so many questions about how an online course works that I put together this explanation:
Basically, I teach the course using a web-based program called "Blackboard". Students are given login information to access the course and everything you will need for the 6 week semester will be posted there. The great thing is that it seems limitless for what enhancements I can use to make the course more interactive and educational. I will be using links to relevant web sites, text lectures, audio files to listen to things like voiceover reels or recorded interviews for some of my industry guests, video files either for lectures or announcements, assignments and discussion forums to strengthen the sense of community and interaction among students. As a matter of fact, I found out through UCLA yesterday that I can give my scheduled guests access to the discussion boards and the students will actually have a chance to have questions answered by the leading professionals in the business. Each week is a 7 day period, and you can complete your assignments and access the discussion forums and other material during that 7 day period within the parameter of your own busy schedule. So if you work during the day, you can work on the course in the evening or vice versa. Each week will start on a Tuesday and must be completed by the following Tuesday.
The course topics on my syllabus are the following:
Week 1 - Introduction to the business of Voiceovers, Unions, Union Work vs. Non-Union work, Identifying the Different Areas of Voiceovers, Union Rates of Pay.
Week 2- The Future of Internet Casting and Exploring Your Options for Work (Industry Guests)
Week 3 - What makes a Competitive Voiceover Reel (Industry Guests)
Week 4 - Signing with a Voiceover Agency, Talent Agency Contracts (Industry Guests)
Week 5 - Celebrities in Voiceovers and the Impact They Have on the Industry
Week 6 - The Basics of Creating Your Own Home Studio (Industry Guests)
I have different discussion forums for each of us to exchange marketing ideas. I also have one to relay my experiences each week with the clients that I advise for Johnna Gottlieb Consulting.
This is a unique opportunity to partner with your fellow voiceover talent all over the world as well as having access to some of the leading industry professionals and I humbly include myself in that category.
I hope this helps. Also, feel free to contact me if this hasn't covered it.
